LEARN DATA SCIENCE ON REAL-LIFE PROBLEMS.
LEARN DATA SCIENCE ON REAL-LIFE PROBLEMS.
BaseCamp is an immersive full-time 8-week program for prospective Data Scientists.
During 8 weeks you will deepen your theoretical knowledge, enhance your practical skills and become
a qualified Data Scientist ready for your exciting data science career.
8 weeks split into lectures, workshops, and work on a project. Our program is timed and shaped perfectly so that you can learn how to solve real-world Data Science problems.
Our training program takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia. Located right on the border with Hungary and Austria, Slovakia is quickly becoming a trending holiday location but also a magnet for Eastern European startup culture. Participants will spend 8 weeks in a city where past meets present, wine meets food and culture meets nightlife. Bratislava is also an ideal spot from which to explore Europe.
From all participants we require advanced English skills (at least C1 level) and good abstract thinking. Technical skills and formal education will be considered but are not mandatory. However, we want all the students to be on the same entry level, so we reserve the right to send out some materials to go through before the bootcamp. The ability to legally reside in the EU during the program is necessary.
The cost of Basecamp is 5,000 Euro paid in three installments: the first 500 Euro due two weeks after acceptance to the program, 2,000 Euro two weeks prior to the beginning of the program and 2,500 Euro within the first two weeks of the program.
We accept 8 to 10 people per batch. The selection is based on the quality of your application, remote interviews and interest on the side of our partners.

I couldn’t believe a few weeks into the program how much I had learned. The selection of topics was great, as well as the balance between theory and practice. The small class size allows for very attentive mentoring. The final project is a great way to get some exposure to real data and dive deeper into some topics. I would definitely recommend Basecamp to anyone starting a career in data science!
Kiril Schewzow, Germany
I really enjoyed the Basecamp experience! It helped me bridge the gap between the online courses and the first job. Above all the final project was great. It was not just another toy exercise but a collaboration with a start-up including their real world data. In the end, this was the key to get the my first job as a data scientist. And I was even lucky to meet my future employer at the hiring day.
George Burry, New Zealand
It brought me a long way in the space of only two months and I am much more confident with data and machine learning now. This is all thanks to the patience and encouragement of Juraj and the other mentors. Topics were taught by experts in their respective fields and were taught in an engaging way. I really enjoyed it and I have taken so much away from the experience.

Fill out the application form on our website. Once we receive your application, we'll review it and get in touch with you to schedule your remote interview.
For our Spring 2020 batch, we'll be receiving applications until 31st Jan 2020 . We advise you to submit your application as soon as possible so that you have enough time to make all the travel arrangements, obtain the visa if necessary, etc. Also the spaces at our bootcamp are limited.
The only prerequisites are advanced English (at least C1 level) and good abstract thinking. However, we want all students to be on the same level initially, so we reserve the right to send the participant some materials to go through before the beginning of the bootcamp. There are no other requirements regarding age, skills or formal education. The participant must be eligible to stay in the European Union during the duration of the program.
After you submit your application one of our mentors will review it and schedule a remote interview with you. You will be notified whether you've been accepted to our bootcamp within one week after this interview. If you are accepted, you will be expected to pay a 500 EUR deposit within one week after the announcment of the decision as a confirmation of your participation. Your place at the bootcamp will be reserved only after we receive this deposit.
Due to focus on quality and personal attention we limit the number of people to 8-10 per batch.
The price of the program is 5,000 EUR, with the first 500 EUR due within two weeks after the acceptance to the program. This is to secure your spot in the bootcamp. The following installment of 2000 EUR must be paid two weeks prior to the beginning of the program, and the third installment (2500 EUR) is due before the end of the second week of the program.
No, currently we do not offer scholarships.
The training program takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is a full-time on-site program. Unfortunalely, we can't allow remote participation. The exact location will be announced prior to the bootcamp, since we can only make the arrangements once the final number of participants is confirmed.
Every participant is responsible for securing their accomodation for the duration of the program. However, we'll be happy to assist you with the search and give you tips based on the experience of our past participants.
The costs of living will obviously depend on your preferences, but to get a better idea here are some of the basic costs: a monthly rental of a private apartment – 500 EUR, lunch menu in a restaurant – 6 EUR, monthly public transport ticket - 27 EUR
Over the course of 8 weeks, you'll get well versed in all the necessary skills to become a valuable part of any data science team. We start with the overview of basics, such as introduction to Python, Git, math for data science, and data wrangling (structured and unstructured data). We continue with optimization and supervised and unsupervised learning. Later we'll cover data visualization and how to do it correctly, the introduction to deep learning, cloud computing, model deployment, as well as the business aspects of data science. There is also a great focus on getting hands-on experience throughout the course. For that purpose, you will be working on many exercises, mini-projects but most importantly each participant is assigned a real-company project from one of our partners.
The typical day at Basecamp begins with a morning block of lectures followed by practical sessions in the afternoon where you will practice the theory during exercises and mini-projects. Moreover, about 30 % of the course time is allocated to the work on a real-company project with help and supervision of our mentors.
No. To be able to follow the course, you will need to be present during the whole duration of the program (though missing a day or two in case of an emergency is fine ;). The classes are interactive and the mentors always adapt the content and activities based on the participants' needs, that's why a real-time feedback is essential.
